The CPN-UML has filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court demanding the reinstatement of the House of Representatives, which the party claims was dissolved unconstitutionally.
The petition was filed by Mahesh Bartaula, former chief whip of the UML parliamentary party, and whip Sunita Baral. They have argued that the dissolution of the House was done in an unconstitutional manner and must be reversed.
According to Mahesh Bartaula, the writ also states that Prime Minister Sushila Karki was appointed unconstitutionally, and demands that her appointment be annulled. The petition calls for forming a government through the parliamentary process instead.
On the same day, UML also submitted an application to the Election Commission for party registration for the purpose of participating in the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
