Prakash Pathak, who allegedly threatened the Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Prem Kumar Rai, along with 10 other high-ranking officials, has been arrested and brought to Nepal with the assistance of Interpol.
According to Kathmandu SSP Ramesh Thapa, Pathak, a resident of Kavrepalanchok, was brought to Nepal on Wednesday.
An Interpol diffusion notice had been issued against him. Following the notice, he was located in the Philippines. Pathak had allegedly issued threats to CIAA Chief Rai and other senior officials through video and audio messages posted on Facebook.
Police said Pathak, who claimed to be the head of an extremist group, had traveled to the Philippines via India and Indonesia. To take him into custody, SP Rupesh Khadka from the Interpol section of Nepal Police and an inspector from the Kathmandu District Police Range traveled to the Philippines.
Police stated that necessary legal procedures are now being carried out against him after his arrival in Nepal.
