The decisions of Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting have been made public. Government spokesperson and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal announced the decisions during a press briefing on Wednesday.
Among the key decisions, the government has resolved to determine the public holidays for the year 2083 BS. According to Minister Aryal, the Cabinet decided to fix public holidays from Baisakh 1 to the end of Chaitra 2083 BS, although the specific dates have yet to be finalized.
The government has also decided to bear the medical expenses of security personnel, including Nepal Police, Election Police, and Armed Police Force personnel, who are injured during the election period. In case of death during the line of duty, financial assistance will be provided to the families of the deceased.
Decisions of the Cabinet Meeting
- Approval of the Prime Minister’s 16th Plan Implementation Action Plan (2081/82–2085/86).
- Approval for Nepal to obtain membership in the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes.
- Acceptance of the proposed cash grant assistance of USD 4 million from the Government of China for the House of Representatives election.
- Approval of the financial investment model for the Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project as mentioned in the current fiscal year’s annual budget and program.
- Designation of all 77 district courts to handle and settle cases related to offenses under Section 140 of the Insurance Act, 2079.
- Appointment of two under-secretaries to gazetted first-class positions in the Nepal Judicial Service as recommended by the Judicial Service Commission.
- Determination of public holidays for the year 2083 BS (from Baisakh 1 to the end of Chaitra).
- Government to bear medical expenses of security personnel and election police injured during the election period, and to provide financial assistance to dependent families in case of death.
- Declaration of a nationwide public holiday from Falgun 20 to 22, 2082, in view of the House of Representatives Member Election scheduled for Falgun 21, 2082.
- Approval for Hitman Gurung to receive the “Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (BEM)” conferred by the King of the United Kingdom.
- Extension by one month of the tenure of the probe commission formed to implement Supreme Court orders related to the transport sector.
- Approval for Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki to participate in the 21st INTERPOL Annual Heads of NCB Conference in France from Chaitra 25 to 27, 2082.
- Endorsement of the Foreign Minister’s visit representing the Government of Nepal to attend the oath ceremony of Bangladesh’s newly elected Prime Minister Tareq Rahman from Falgun 4 to 7, 2082.
- Granting tax exemptions on matters mentioned in the implementation agreement for the Kalanki–Basundhara Kathmandu Ring Road Improvement Project funded by the Government of China.
- Formation of a Gen-Z Council.
- Notification of mandatory retirement of government secretaries Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire and Dr. Hari Prasad Lamsal, with appreciation for their contributions.
- Approval of foreign visits for six special-class officers of the Government of Nepal.
