As the House of Representatives election approaches, election activities have intensified in Jhapa-2, with candidates prioritizing issues such as employment, health, education, agriculture, and good governance.
Local voters have raised concerns over the lack of job opportunities, failure to receive fair prices for agricultural produce, and limited access to health and education services. The growing trend of youths being forced to go abroad for employment has also emerged as a major concern in the constituency.
In Jhapa-2, candidates in the race include Devaraj Ghimire of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), Indira Ranamagar of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Sarita Prasai of the Nepali Congress, Dharmashila Chapagain of the Communist Party of Nepal, Bhadra Prasad Nepal of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and independent candidate Yubaraj Sangroula.
The candidates are seeking votes by emphasizing development, good governance, transparency, agricultural reform, and social justice as their main priorities.
According to the Election Commission Nepal, there are 147,522 registered voters in Jhapa-2. As the election date draws nearer, campaign discussions have intensified across villages, markets, and public places in the constituency.
