South Africa national cricket team secured a commanding 76-run victory over India national cricket team in the T20 World Cup Super Eight match held on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Chasing a target of 188 runs, India were bowled out for 111 in 18.5 overs. Shivam Dube top-scored for India with 42 runs off 37 balls. After three consecutive ducks, opener Abhishek Sharma managed 15 runs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya contributed 18 runs each.
Among the South African bowlers, Marco Jansen was outstanding, taking 4 wickets for 22 runs, while Keshav Maharaj claimed 3 wickets for 24 runs.
India’s innings got off to a poor start, with Ishan Kishan dismissed for a duck. Tilak Varma also managed just 1 run.
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, South Africa recovered from a shaky start to post a competitive total of 187 for 7 in 20 overs. They had lost 3 wickets for just 20 runs and appeared under pressure. However, the middle order steadied the innings.
Dewald Brevis scored 45 runs, David Miller added 63, and Tristan Stubbs contributed 44 runs.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets for 15 runs, while Arshdeep Singh picked up 2 wickets for 28 runs.
