In the Super 8 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the West Indies cricket team secured a dominant 107-run victory over the Zimbabwe national cricket team.
The match was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India. Chasing a massive target of 255 runs set by West Indies, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 147 runs in 17.4 overs.
For Zimbabwe, Brad Evans scored 43 runs, Dion Myers made 28, captain Sikandar Raza added 27, while Tadiwanashe Marumani and Tony Munyonga contributed 14 runs each. The rest of the batting lineup failed to make a significant impact.
For West Indies, Gudakesh Motie claimed four wickets, Akeal Hosein took three, while Matthew Forde grabbed two and Jason Holder picked up one wicket.
Earlier, West Indies posted a formidable total, powered by Shimron Hetmyer, who smashed an explosive 85 runs off 34 balls, including seven fours and seven sixes. Rovman Powell scored 59 runs off 35 balls with four fours and four sixes, while Sherfane Rutherford remained unbeaten on 31 runs off just 13 deliveries.
For Zimbabwe, Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani took two wickets each, while Bradley Evans and Graeme Cremer claimed one wicket apiece.
