Durga Prasai, coordinator of the Nation, Nationality, Religion–Culture and Citizen Protection Campaign, has been released.
He was freed on Wednesday in accordance with an order from the Supreme Court of Nepal. On Tuesday, a joint bench of Justices Manoj Kumar Sharma and Meghraj Pokharel had issued a habeas corpus order directing his release.
However, due to procedural formalities, he was released only on Wednesday.
Police had arrested Prasai on charges of being involved in activities aimed at disrupting the election. He has been arrested and released multiple times in the past.
