A corruption case has been filed against two individuals, including Amrit Bhetuwal, a Section Officer (Sixth Level) working at the Transport Management Office in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, Makwanpur.
According to Suresh Nyaupane, spokesperson for the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Bhetuwal and an alleged intermediary, Khagendra Paudel, were involved in a planned scheme to demand and negotiate a bribe from a service seeker in exchange for approving a vehicle transfer.
The two had reportedly agreed to accept a bribe of NPR 11,500 as part of their arrangement. Based on evidence confirming the acceptance of the bribe as per their prior plan, a case has been filed under Section 3(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002 (2059 BS).
The CIAA stated that a charge sheet was filed on Thursday at the Special Court in Kathmandu, seeking penalties including imprisonment and a fine equivalent to the bribe amount.
