A significant change in weather is expected across Nepal starting Friday as the influence of westerly winds and local wind systems intensifies, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
Information Officer Dinkar Kayastha said cloud cover began increasing from Thursday evening. Rainfall has already been recorded in districts including Gorkha, Sindhupalchok, Kaski, Lamjung, Sankhuwasabha, Khotang, and Nuwakot, with the weather activity expected to intensify further from Friday night.
According to the bulletin issued by the Weather Forecasting Division, partial to generally cloudy conditions will prevail over the Himalayan region today. Some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of all provinces, as well as a few locations in the Tarai, are likely to experience moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, gusty winds, and hailstorms. Light snowfall has also been projected in high hilly and Himalayan areas.
On Saturday, generally cloudy conditions are expected in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Some places in Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, along with hilly regions of other provinces, may witness rainfall with thunder and lightning, and chances of snowfall in higher elevations.
The department has urged the public to remain cautious of potential risks from strong winds, hail, and lightning. Special caution has been advised for trekkers and farmers engaged in agricultural work.
