President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that cultural and historical festivals help strengthen national unity by fostering mutual trust, harmony, tolerance, and cooperation among Nepalis of diverse ethnicities, languages, cultures, and regions.
Extending best wishes for happiness, peace, and prosperity to Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of Ram Navami, he expressed hope that the festival would inspire greater understanding, lasting peace, and brotherhood.
Ram Navami is traditionally observed on the ninth day (Navami) of the bright fortnight of the month of Chaitra as the birth anniversary of Lord Ram. Devotees observe worship, fasting, rituals, and chanting on this day with the belief that their wishes will be fulfilled. Such festivals are also believed to contribute to the preservation of ancient civilization, religion, and culture.
Ram Navami is regarded not only as the birthday of Lord Ram but also as a symbol of the victory of righteousness over evil. On this day, fairs are held at various places across the country, including the famous Ram Janaki Temple in Janakpur.
