Kathmandu — Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Balen Shah, is preparing to take the oath of office as Prime Minister today.
The ceremony will be held at the Shital Niwas, where up to 16 ministers are also expected to be sworn in alongside the Prime Minister as part of the Cabinet formation.
According to RSP sources, the swearing-in of ministers will take place immediately after the Prime Minister’s oath. The party is in the final stage of deciding key ministerial portfolios, aiming to form a full Cabinet from the outset.
Swarnim Wagle is almost certain to be appointed as Finance Minister. Similarly, Shishir Khanal is likely to take charge of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Sudan Gurung is being widely discussed as the probable candidate for Home Minister, although final confirmation is expected only after an official announcement.
Other potential ministers include Sobita Gautam, Sunil Lamsal, Amaresh Singh, Sasmita Pokharel, Pratibha Rawal, and Indira Rana, who are expected to be assigned various portfolios.
Meanwhile, the RSP is reportedly considering D.P. Aryal for the post of Speaker of the Federal Parliament. Although his name was initially discussed for the Home Ministry, the party now appears to be leaning toward nominating him as Speaker.
Final discussions are ongoing between party president Rabi Lamichhane and Prime Minister-designate Balen Shah to finalize the list of ministers. Sources indicate that all names are expected to be finalized by 10:00 AM today and sent to the President’s Office for appointment.
With the formation of the new government, there are growing expectations for administrative stability, economic reform, and good governance.
