Kathmandu — Tension escalated in the Babarmahal area as activists of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) clashed with police.
The confrontation occurred in front of the Kathmandu District Court during a protest against the arrest of party chairman K.P. Sharma Oli. Police resorted to baton charges to control the situation.
Protesters also vandalized private vehicles on the streets during the demonstration. The unrest followed the arrest of Oli, prompting UML activists to take to the streets in opposition.
