The high-level inquiry commission’s report on the Janajati protests held on Bhadra 23–24 has been sent to the police for implementation. The government had decided to implement the report prepared under the leadership of former Justice Gauribahadur Karki. The report was forwarded from the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers’ office to the Home Ministry for execution.
The Home Ministry then passed the report to the Nepal Police Headquarters. From there, it was routed via the Kathmandu Valley Police Office at Ranipokhari to the District Police Office, Kathmandu, for implementation.
Based on this report prepared by the Karki-led commission, former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak are currently in police custody.
The government has stated that after further study regarding the security apparatus, the report will be fully implemented. Other individuals mentioned in the report will also be investigated and may be taken into custody as per the findings.
