The hearing on the police request to extend the custody of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has concluded.
The proceedings took place on Sunday before Judge Anand Prasad Shrestha at Kathmandu District Court. For the custody extension hearing, police presented former minister Lekhak in court, while former Prime Minister Oli participated via video conference from Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, where he is currently admitted.
During the hearing, the government lawyer argued that both Oli and Lekhak should be kept in custody for further investigation. Lawyers representing Oli and Lekhak contended that neither should remain in detention.
The court is expected to issue its decision shortly, determining whether the two will remain in custody for investigation or be released.
