Former Prime Minister and KP Sharma Oli, chairperson of CPN (UML), is facing a writ petition filed by his wife, Radhika Shakya, in the Supreme Court of Nepal seeking his immediate release.
The writ, submitted on Sunday, claims that Oli was illegally arrested and detained, and requests bandi pratyakshikaran (direct court review of detention).
According to Supreme Court spokesperson Nirajan Pandey, the petition is currently under review.
Following Oli’s arrest, his supporters and CPN (UML) cadres have staged protests across the country.
