Tragically, two students studying at Moonlight English School, located at Bahra Ghare Chowk, Bharatpur-3, Chitwan, drowned in the Narayani River.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Govind Puri of the District Police Office Chitwan, the victims were Sunam Ramtel, approximately 14 years old, from Sharanpur, Bharatpur-16, and his classmate Prashant Kshetri, also around 14 years old, both studying in Grade 7 at Moonlight Boarding School.
The students had come to school for exams but went to the nearby Narayani River to swim before the exam started. They went missing after getting caught in the river’s whirlpool.
Their bodies were found during a search and rescue operation, and they were immediately taken to Bharatpur Hospital, where they were pronounced dead during treatment.
The distance between the school and the river is reported to be only about 800 meters. Police are continuing further investigation into the incident.
