A case has been registered against Kamlesh Sharan Chaudhary, Chair of Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality, along with Rajeshwar Chaudhary and Sant Kumar Yadav, on allegations of gang rape.
The case moved forward at the District Government Attorney’s Office Rupandehi based on a complaint filed by a young woman identified under the pseudonym “Bhairahawa–15.” Among the accused, Yadav is currently in judicial custody for a detention hearing, while the others have denied the allegations and are preparing their legal defense.
The incident has sparked debate not only as a criminal case but also over process and access to justice. The complainant’s side has claimed that police initially refused to register the case, and that the investigation proceeded only after they sought a court order. Following the court’s directive, police advanced the case.
On the other hand, Chair Chaudhary has described the allegation as a planned attempt to frame him, stating that a family dispute was twisted into a false accusation.
The matter has now entered the court process, where evidence, testimonies, and legal arguments will determine the outcome.
