The Central Disciplinary Committee of the Nepali Congress is convening a meeting today.
The meeting was called after parallel activities were initiated by the groups led by former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and leader Shekhar Koirala.
Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal informed that the meeting will be held at 1 PM at the party’s central office in Sanepa.
Following the arrest of Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak last Saturday, Purna Bahadur Khadka issued a statement as acting party president. The party has taken this matter seriously.
Although Gagan Thapa was elected party president through a special general convention and this was officially recognized by the Election Commission, Khadka from the Deuba faction issued a statement as acting president. Discussions were also held about not renewing his active party membership.
On Tuesday, Khadka also called a meeting of the Central Working Committee elected from the 14th General Convention. The party has expressed dissatisfaction after he organized a program placing Shekhar Koirala and Shashank Koirala on either side.
Khadka has also called a gathering of district presidents on Chaitra 19. A party leader stated that all these issues will be discussed in today’s disciplinary committee meeting.
