The statement of former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is currently being recorded at the District Attorney’s Office, Kathmandu. Office chief Ram Hari Kafle said Lekhak has been giving his statement there for the past two hours.
Based on the action recommendations of the probe commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki, police arrested Lekhak and former Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli last Saturday (Chaitra 14). The extended remand granted by the court for Lekhak is expiring today.
The probe commission had recommended legal action against three individuals, including Lekhak, under Sections 181 and 182 of the Muluki Criminal Code, 2074, accusing them of ordering the use of gunfire during the Janajeevan (Gen-Z) movement.
