Hark Raj Rai has called for the scrapping of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement. Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives Nepal on Thursday, he argued that the MCC was introduced with implications for national sovereignty, geopolitics, and military strategy, and therefore should be annulled.
Rai also stressed the need for stricter government monitoring in border areas. He demanded an investigation into the assets of all lawmakers and urged the government to link education with production, construction, and innovation. He emphasized the implementation of practical, life-oriented education.
Expressing dissatisfaction over delays in parliamentary proceedings, he noted that the meeting had started 16 minutes and 55 seconds late. “It does not seem that the public sent us here to be late,” he said, urging members to arrive at least five minutes before the scheduled start time in the future.
Rai further complained of discrimination within the parliament and said that, as elected representatives, lawmakers should be given adequate time to raise public concerns.
