Deputy President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), DP Aryal, has been elected unopposed as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Aryal secured the position after no other political party filed a candidacy against him. According to Federal Parliament Secretariat spokesperson Ekram Giri, Aryal was the sole nominee for the post.
He had registered his candidacy earlier today.
In the 275-member House of Representatives, the Rastriya Swatantra Party holds 182 seats. Aryal’s unopposed election as Speaker will be formally announced during the House meeting scheduled for Sunday.
