Within the nomination window set under the House Speaker election schedule, only Dolprasad (DP) Aryal, Vice Chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, filed his candidacy.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat timetable, nominations were registered at the Parliament Secretariat in Singh Durbar from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Friday. During this period, Aryal was the only candidate to submit a nomination.
Aryal’s proposal was filed by Rastriya Swatantra Party Chair Rabi Lamichhane, and supported by party lawmakers Sobita Gautam, Swarnim Wagle, and Sunil Lamsal.
As per the schedule, the Secretariat has published the notice of the single registered candidate. The proposal will be presented for decision at the House of Representatives meeting on Chaitra 22.
Since Aryal is the sole nominee, he is certain to be elected unopposed. The House now only needs to formally announce his election.
