Chairperson of Rabi Lamichhane from the Rastriya Swatantra Party held a meeting on Saturday with parliamentary party leader Gyanendra Shahi of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party.
The discussion, which lasted about an hour, took place at Lamichhane’s private residence.
With the election for the vacant Deputy Speaker position in the House of Representatives approaching, the meeting is being viewed as significant. It is understood that the main agenda focused on possible collaboration for the Deputy Speaker post and forming a shared strategy within Parliament.
The Rastriya Swatantra Party has already secured the Speaker position with the election of DP Aryal. According to constitutional provisions, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker must be from different parties and genders. As a result, the party is required to seek cooperation with parties outside the ruling alliance.
