A court has granted an additional seven days to investigate former Energy Minister and Nepali Congress leader Deepak Khadka in a money laundering case.
Khadka, who was arrested on Chaitra 15, had his remand extended for the second time today. Earlier, the Kathmandu District Court had allowed authorities to keep him in custody for seven days for investigation.
Home Minister Sudan Gurung had stated that Khadka was taken into control to investigate the cash recovered from his residence following the Gen Z protest on Bhadra 24.
The Department of Money Laundering Investigation is investigating the burnt cash found at Khadka’s house. The department had previously collected pieces of burnt currency notes and ashes from the premises. During the Gen Z protest, demonstrators had vandalized and set fire to Khadka’s house.
