The Government of Karnali Province has decided to grant six additional public holidays in the upcoming year 2083. The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held in Birendranagar, Surkhet, under the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers.
According to government spokesperson and Minister for Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives, Binod Kumar Shah, the holidays have been introduced to recognize cultural, agricultural, and regional significance.
District-Specific Holidays
- Chaitra 12 (Rice Day) – Public holiday in Jumla district
- Asoj 22 (Chandannath Temple Festival – Lingo Carrying Fair) – Public holiday in Jumla district only
However, on Asar 15 (National Paddy Day), a public holiday will be observed in nine districts of Karnali Province except Jumla.
Province-Wide Public Holidays
The following holidays will be observed across the entire Karnali Province:
- Shrawan 1 – Saune Sankranti and Deuda Festival
- Bhadra 4 – Province स्थापना Day and Martyrs’ Day
- Kartik 8 – Kojagrat Purnima
Additional Decision
The Cabinet also approved amendments to Schedule 2 of the Provincial Government (Work Division) Regulations, 2074, and decided to publish the updated notice in the Provincial Gazette.
