The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that Nepal is currently under the influence of a westerly low-pressure system along with local winds.
At present, the Himalayan regions of Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province, Sudurpashchim Province, as well as parts of Bagmati Province and Koshi Province, are generally cloudy, while the rest of the country is experiencing mostly clear weather. Light rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are occurring at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions.
This afternoon, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces are expected to remain fully cloudy, while the rest of the country will see generally cloudy conditions. There is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall with thunder, lightning, gusty winds, and hail at many places in these provinces, and at some locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces. A few places in the Terai regions of Madhesh, Koshi, and Bagmati provinces may also witness thunderstorms and rain.
Heavy rainfall and snowfall are likely at one or two places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. Gusty winds are also possible at some locations in the hilly and Terai areas of Madhesh, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces.
Tonight, the weather across the country is expected to remain generally cloudy. Many places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, along with a few places in the Terai, may experience moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
