A father and his three-year-old daughter have been out of contact for the past six days in Gulmi District.
Approximately 35-year-old Jhamman Giri of Dhurkot Rural Municipality–4, Jaisithok, has been missing along with his daughter since last Friday.
Giri’s wife died a year ago. After her death, he had obtained a poverty certificate from the ward office with the stated aim of collecting financial support in the village.
According to local resident Man Bahadur Kunwar, Giri allegedly collected donations on the basis of that document and was drinking alcohol before going out of contact with his daughter.
A video of the father and daughter filmed in Hulake, Dhurkot, is currently circulating widely on social media.
Following this, child rights activists, women’s rights activists, and others have begun searching for the girl.
For the past year, only the father and daughter had been living at Giri’s home.
Superintendent of Police Narayan Adhikari of the District Police Office said that an active search operation is underway. He added that all subordinate units have been informed and efforts are being made to track their location.
