Kathmandu — Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli has been released from police custody under the supervision of his family. However, he remains hospitalized as doctors at the teaching hospital have refused to discharge him due to complex health issues.
Oli had been arrested in connection with the Jan-G Movement crackdown. Although he was freed from custody after three days, medical examinations revealed multiple health complications, prompting doctors to admit him. Tests indicate abnormally high blood sugar levels, thyroid issues, and confirmed gallstones, which may require surgery.
According to family sources, doctors are preparing to perform gallstone surgery on Oli next Tuesday, after taking time to advise the family on potential risks involved in the procedure.
Today, the police handed Oli over to the custody of his wife, Radhika Shakya, but the hospital administration has not authorized his discharge, and he will continue to receive treatment at the hospital.
