Kathmandu — General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), Shankar Pokharel, has stated that the government has failed to justify the arrests of former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
Speaking after both leaders were released on personal recognizance and handed over to their families, Pokharel said that even after 10 days, the government has not been able to establish any valid grounds for their detention.
He alleged that the arrests were made based on a biased and incomplete report prepared by the commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki.
Pokharel stated, “Even after 10 days, the government has failed to justify the illegal arrest carried out on the basis of a retaliatory, biased, and incomplete report. Ultimately, it had to resort to releasing them on personal bail, which raises serious questions.”
