Public transport fares have been increased in Bagmati Province following a decision by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Transport, Bagmati Province. The revised rates for petroleum-run vehicles came into effect after the official notice was published in the government gazette.
According to the ministry, the new fares were determined by reviewing the rates previously implemented on Bhadra 7, 2080, in line with the Provincial Fare Determination and Adjustment Regulation, 2078, market price fluctuations, and prevailing economic laws.
Under the new arrangement, passenger public transport operating within the Kathmandu Valley will see a fare increase of 25.96 percent. Similarly, taxi fares operated by petroleum fuel have increased by 12.39 percent. Passenger vehicles operating outside the valley have seen a 17.35 percent hike, while freight vehicles have experienced a 26.79 percent rise in fares.
However, fares for electric passenger vehicles and electric taxis remain unchanged. The fare rates implemented since Baisakh 1, 2079 for these vehicles will continue to apply, the ministry clarified.
