Gen Z protesters have staged a sit-in protest outside Singha Durbar after being denied an entry pass while attempting to meet Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal with various demands. The protesters said they had gone to Singha Durbar to draw the finance minister’s attention to their demands, but after failing to secure a meeting, they began a protest on Sunday at the western gate of Singha Durbar.
The protesters are demanding an immediate halt to the allotment process of the Initial Public Offering (IPO) issued by Reliance Spinning Mills for Nepalis working in foreign employment. They have also called for an investigation into alleged corruption within the Securities Board of Nepal.
Additionally, the Gen Z group has demanded the formation of an independent investigation commission and the immediate suspension of Securities Board Chairperson Santosh Narayan Shrestha. They have warned that if the chairperson is found guilty, he should be dismissed without delay.
The protesters further demanded strict legal action against all individuals found involved in corruption, stating that those responsible should face the maximum punishment under the law.
