The Nepal Communist Party has stated that inflation and black market activities have increased after the formation of the new government. Issuing a statement on Sunday, the party urged the government to immediately take steps to control rising prices and market irregularities.
The party also protested what it described as the forced displacement of landless squatters without proper alternatives. It drew the government’s attention to issues related to the management of squatters, rising inflation, and the protection of democratic rights.
According to the party, the government formed from the recent mandate should have focused on good governance and prosperity in line with public expectations, but instead has added economic burdens on citizens.
The NCP also opposed decisions to restrict student organizations. The statement warned that such actions would be unconstitutional in a federal democratic republic, recalling that even during the Panchayat era, the right to organize existed. The party further expressed concern over attempts to impose restrictions on trade unions, urging the government to reconsider any move that violates constitutional rights and international agreements ratified by Nepal.
