Political advisor to President Ramchandra Paudel, Sunil Bahadur Thapa, has resigned from his position.
Sources claim that Thapa, son of former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, resigned in order to contest the National Assembly elections from Nepali Congress scheduled for Magh 11.
Thapa had previously contested the 2079 elections from Dhankuta, where he was defeated by UML’s Rajendra Rai. A central member of the Nepali Congress, Sunil later served as an advisor to President Paudel.
Sunil Bahadur Thapa had originally been part of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party before joining Nepali Congress politics.
