The results of the CPN (UML) general convention elections will be announced only tomorrow.
Voting could not take place at the scheduled time, leading to a slight delay in the results. Although voting was initially set to begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, due to technical preparations, it will now start only after 4:00 PM.
Earlier, the election schedule was revised, setting the voting period from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The UML is using electronic voting machines (EVMs) developed by Ramlaxman Innovation Pvt. Ltd., and the same machines will be used this time as well.
According to Laxman Rimal, a technician from Ramlaxman Innovation Pvt. Ltd., the final list of candidates was provided by the election committee only at 1:00 AM. The candidate photos are currently being coded into the voting machines, a process expected to take until around 4:00 PM.
As a result, the voting scheduled to start at 11:00 AM will not commence as planned. This time, 80 electronic voting machines will be used, and it is estimated that each voter will take 35–40 minutes to cast their vote.
A total of 2,262 representatives, including geographical, non-geographical, organizational, departmental, body, and nominated members, are participating in the UML general convention. According to current estimates, voting will continue until around midday on Wednesday, and the results are expected only after that, according to one party leader.
