CPN-UML leader Bishnu Rijal has suffered defeat in the election for the party’s central committee. In the 11th General Convention, Rijal had contested for both the post of deputy general secretary and central committee member, but failed to secure victory in either race.
Rijal is widely known as a close confidant of party chair KP Sharma Oli and had long worked within Oli’s faction. However, the party’s internal election delivered an unexpected outcome, resulting in his defeat despite his strong standing within the leadership circle.
