The stock market declined by double digits on the last trading day of the week. According to the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the benchmark NEPSE index fell by 10.66 points on Thursday to close at 2,615.03 points. Out of the 13 sub-indices traded on the day, share prices of three sub-groups increased, while the remaining 10 sub-groups recorded declines.
Barahi Hydropower Public Limited saw the highest trading volume, with shares worth more than NPR 247.23 million exchanged during the session. On Thursday, the share prices of two companies hit the positive circuit. Investors in Swastik Laghubitta and SY Panel Nepal gained the most, as both companies’ share prices rose by 10 percent each, triggering positive circuit breakers.
Investors in Barahi Hydropower suffered the highest losses, with the company’s share price falling by 4.76 percent. In total, shares of 329 companies were traded, with 11,291,401 units exchanged, resulting in a total turnover of more than NPR 4.57 billion, according to NEPSE.
