The chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (Raswapa) is scheduled to visit Chitwan immediately after being released from jail. Following an order from the Butwal bench of the High Court, Tulsipur, for his release on bail, Lamichhane will be traveling to Rupandehi today and will appear at the district court there.
Raswapa leaders confirmed that the bank guarantee for the bail amount has already been prepared, allowing him to be released today. According to his press advisor, Pramod Nyaupane, Lamichhane plans to go directly to Chitwan after his release.
A program is scheduled for Saturday in Chaubiskoti, Chitwan, where Lamichhane will deliver a special address. He is expected to return to Kathmandu afterward—either on Saturday if time permits, or otherwise on Sunday, Nyaupane added.
Earlier, the district court in Butwal had ordered Lamichhane to be remanded in custody in connection with the Supreme Cooperative fraud case. He had applied to the High Court for release by depositing bail equivalent to the forfeited amount. The Butwal bench of the High Court approved his release upon submission of a bank guarantee of NPR 274,84,000, which corresponds to his bail.
