Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) spokesperson Gyan Bahadur Shahi, popularly known as Gyanendra, is set to contest the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 from Lalitpur Constituency No. 1. The RPP constituency committee has recommended three names—Shahi, Parshuram Silwal, and Rabin Ghimire—for the direct election under the first-past-the-post system.
Shahi was elected to the House of Representatives from Jumla in the previous election. For the proportional representation category from the same constituency, the party has recommended the names of Bikram Lama, Kaushalya Thapa, and Kishor Deshar.
The House of Representatives election is scheduled to be held on Falgun 21. In the previous election, Nepali Congress candidate Udaya Shumsher Rana had won from Lalitpur-1.
