The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has unanimously recommended Bharatpur Metropolitan City Mayor Renu Dahal as its candidate for the upcoming election from Chitwan Constituency No. 3.
A meeting held in Jagatpur under the party’s Chitwan-3 constituency committee endorsed Dahal as the direct candidate by consensus.
Despite having one year remaining in her term as mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Dahal is preparing to resign and enter the electoral race.
In the 2079 BS elections, Maoist Centre leader Dr. Bhojraj Adhikari, who was a candidate from the Maoist Centre–Nepali Congress alliance, was defeated by Rastriya Prajatantra Party Vice-Chairman Bikram Pandey.
In the same election, Dinesh Koirala, who contested as a rebel Congress candidate with the support of the CPN-UML under the ‘Fish’ election symbol, was also defeated.
