On the occasion of the 133rd birth anniversary of great leader of the world communist movement Chairman Mao Zedong, Nepali Communist Party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that Mao’s ideas remain equally relevant in the current global context.
In a goodwill message issued on the occasion, Prachanda stated that imperialism, neoliberalism and capitalist exploitation have intensified social inequality across the world, increased interference in national sovereignty and pushed people’s lives into deeper crisis. In such circumstances, he said, Mao’s ideas, the path of struggle he showed and his scientific approach to resolving social contradictions continue to serve as guiding principles even today.
Prachanda noted that the path shown by Mao is not merely a matter of historical remembrance but a practical guide for defending national independence, liberating oppressed classes, building a self-reliant national economy and establishing democracy based on people’s ownership.
In his message, he mentioned that one phase of the ideological and practical struggle against feudalism has been completed, which has further strengthened the ideological clarity, organizational capacity and commitment of revolutionary forces. Synthesizing Marx, Lenin, Mao and Nepal’s own revolutionary experience, he said, advancing firmly toward a socialist revolution is the primary task at present.
He emphasized that without a relentless ideological and political struggle against opportunism, ideological deviation, surrender and anarchism, a socialist revolution cannot succeed. Prachanda explained clarity in thought, unity in practice and firmness in struggle as the true essence of commemorating Mao Day.
On the occasion of Mao Day, he also appealed to all revolutionary forces to rise above differences and unite for the goal of achieving a sovereign, self-reliant, egalitarian and socialist Nepal.
