Nepal Police have arrested a gang involved in defrauding Rs 500,000 by selling fake gold. A police team deployed from Bauddha Police Circle arrested the group from Thali, Kageshwori Manohara Municipality–5, Kathmandu, and made the arrests public on Monday.
The arrested individuals are 45-year-old Sukuman Singh Blon of Indrasarovar Rural Municipality, Makwanpur; 48-year-old Rajendra Tamang of Makwanpur; 53-year-old Bir Bahadur Tamang, also known as Bibasit Syangtang, of Bakaiya Rural Municipality, Makwanpur; and 42-year-old Jit Bahadur Tamang of Devchuli, Nawalparasi.
According to Kathmandu District Police spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, the accused were arrested on charges of cheating by selling metal lumps resembling gold as genuine gold. Police have obtained an extension of custody from the district court and are continuing investigation into the fraud case.
