In a Sumo vehicle accident at Jurekhet, Bhimfedi-6, Makwanpur, along the Bhimfedi–Kulekhani–Kathmandu road section, six people lost their lives, of which five have been identified so far.
According to Pushkar Bogati, spokesperson for Makwanpur District Police Office, the deceased include 40-year-old Sabita Lamsal from Kamaldanda, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–4; 29-year-old Nikhil Agrawal from Kantirajpath, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–2; 56-year-old Krishna Prasad Phuyal from Bhutandevi Tol, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–10; 50-year-old Arbind Kumar from Begusarai, Bihar, India; and 42-year-old Rajanis Kumar from Patna, Bihar, India.
One male victim is yet to be identified, Bogati added.
Among the injured, 45-year-old Sumo driver Ganesh Thapa from Karra Chowk, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–4, and 12-year-old Abhyas Lamsal, daughter of deceased Sabita, are receiving treatment at Old Medical College, Bharatpur, Chitwan. Another injured, 21-year-old Richa Chaudhary from Chandrapur Municipality–2, Rautahat, is undergoing treatment at Hetauda Hospital.
The Sumo vehicle, registration number Na.1 Ja 1778, traveling from Kathmandu to Hetauda, fell 100 meters into a gorge on Sunday evening. All six passengers died while being rescued and brought to Hetauda Hospital for treatment.
