Amid escalating tensions in Birgunj, the local administration has imposed a curfew in specific areas of the metropolitan city.
Following the order of Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal, the area bounded by Bus Park in the east, Sirsiya Bridge in the west, Powerhouse Chowk in the north, and Shankaracharya Gate in the south has been declared a prohibited zone.
According to the notice issued by CDO Dahal, under Section 6(3k) of the Local Administration Act, 2028, and based on the decision of the District Security Committee, no gatherings, rallies, assemblies, or demonstrations are allowed in the designated area from 1 PM on Monday until further notice.
Protests that began Monday morning have created a tense situation in Birgunj, with the market intermittently opening and closing.
