Four members of the same family have fallen ill after consuming a curry made from wild mushrooms that grew on a pile of straw. According to Makwanpur District Police Chief Superintendent Bharat Bahadur Bik, the incident involved the family of 30-year-old Hira Pahari, a permanent resident of Bagmati Municipality–13, Makwanpur, who is currently living in a rented house at Gorkha Municipality–14, Pyughar.
On Monday evening, the family collected mushrooms growing on a nearby straw heap and cooked them as a curry. After eating the mushrooms, Hira Pahari, her 12-year-old son Kisan, 6-year-old son Himal, and 5-year-old daughter Sujita became ill.
Soon after consumption, they showed symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea, and extreme fatigue. They were immediately taken to Abukhaireni Rural Municipality Hospital in Tanahun for treatment, where they are currently undergoing care. Police said all the patients are conscious and able to speak.
Further investigation into the incident is underway, police added.
