The curfew imposed in Birgunj from 6:00 pm yesterday after tensions between two religious communities has been lifted. Parsa Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal confirmed that the decision was taken after a five-point agreement reached during an all-party and all-stakeholder meeting held on Tuesday.
Earlier, the local administration had extended the curfew until 6:00 pm today. However, as the security situation gradually improved and the need to allow free movement of citizens and resume business activities became essential, the administration decided to lift the curfew.
According to the notice issued by Chief District Officer Dahal, the curfew order has been withdrawn effective from 3:30 pm on 2082/09/22, and all concerned have been informed accordingly.
