Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello stated that at least 100 people have died in the US-led operation aimed at capturing President Nicolás Maduro. The operation also left a similar number injured.
Cabello noted that civilians unrelated to the conflict, including women inside their homes, were killed by the powerful explosions.
The Cuban government, in a statement released on Sunday, reported that 32 Cuban citizens—members of Cuba’s armed forces and interior ministry—were killed during the operation. It remains unclear whether these 32 are included in the total of 100 fatalities mentioned by Cabello.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that no American soldiers were killed in the operation, though he acknowledged that some were injured when a helicopter was attacked during the mission.
