The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that rainfall activity is expected to intensify over the next few days due to the northward movement of the monsoon trough.
Widespread cloud cover and rainfall were observed across the country on Saturday, and this trend is forecasted to increase starting Sunday. With the monsoon trough now positioned further north than average, even the Terai region is likely to experience significant rainfall, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.
Currently, the entire country is under the influence of monsoonal winds, with the active low-pressure system situated slightly north of its usual position. This has led to predictions of increased rainfall activity for the next three days.
The monsoon is expected to become more active across the country, including in Madhes Province. Starting tonight, much of the Terai is likely to witness generally overcast skies with moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning.
On Sunday, heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Koshi, Sudurpaschim, and Lumbini Provinces. For Monday, the forecast includes heavy rainfall in some areas of Koshi, Madhes, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
