Minister for Youth and Sports Bablu Gupta has postponed his planned visit to the United States scheduled for Magh 3.
According to his personal secretary, Binod Rimal, the visit has been deferred due to a lack of time. He said the process related to visa and other formalities would take longer, and therefore the minister will not be traveling to the US for now.
The issue had earlier drawn attention after the Cabinet approved Minister Gupta’s participation in a program titled “Role of Youth in the Development of Nepal: Post-Gen Z Revolution” to be held in the United States. The program was reportedly being organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) led by Development Upreti.
However, another NRNA–America group led by Satendra Shah issued a statement saying that Minister Gupta had not been invited. This made the planned US visit even more controversial.
At present, there are three different groups of Non-Resident Nepalis in the United States, one of which is led by Upreti. According to Upreti, the program was being organized by the youth department of the association.
