Homanath Dahal, a veteran of Nepal’s democratic movement and former president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), passed away last night.
According to family sources, the 84-year-old former Minister for Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation suffered a heart attack and died during treatment at Bir Hospital. He had been unwell for some time due to knee-related problems and was receiving treatment at his residence in Maitidevi.
Born in the then Baruneshwar Village Panchayat of Okhaldhunga, Dahal served as editor of Rastrapukar, the mouthpiece weekly of the Nepali Congress. He also held responsibilities as a district committee member of Nepali Congress in Okhaldhunga and later as a central committee member of the then Nepali Congress (Democratic).
His last rites will be performed today at Pashupati Aryaghat. Dahal is survived by his wife and two sons.
