President Ram Chandra Paudel has paid tribute to the nation builder Prithvi Narayan Shah, honoring his contributions to the unification of Nepal. The President offered floral wreaths at the statue of Prithvi Narayan Shah located near the western gate of Singha Durbar. On the occasion, a contingent of the Nepali Army presented a salute to the President.
The ceremony was organized on the occasion of Prithvi Jayanti and National Unity Day. Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, Vice Chairperson Bimala Ghimire, and ministers of the Government of Nepal also paid floral tributes and expressed their respect to Prithvi Narayan Shah, the architect of Nepal’s unification.
Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal, senior government officials, heads of constitutional bodies, chiefs of security agencies, and distinguished personalities from various sectors of society were also present and paid their respects to the nation builder.
Prithvi Narayan Shah’s birth anniversary is observed every year on Poush 27 as National Unity Day across the country.
